Program tackles bullying by tackling gossip

The University of Washington has shown that the Steps to Respect program prevents bullying by preventing gossip. The research demonstrated a 72 percent reduction in gossip, but also explores the strong link between schoolyard gossip (itself a form of bullying) and physical abuse. Anti-bullying program reduces malicious gossip on school playgrounds.
